Catamaran Chair
The Catamaran Chair was designed whilst I was part of the Research and Development at TC office. The brief was for an office chair which corrected posture as people in jobs who spent the most time sat down had health problems they put themselves at risk against. Such as Heart disease, headaches, spinal deformation etc.

The Chair has a back rest which can be easily altered with the sliding arms, which give an index for the lumbar which varies based on the individual's preferences and size.

The base shape stems from an insight around the fact that people were not getting proper spinal alignment due to having one foot obstructed from the floor by a 5 star base. The base shape therefore allows both feet to sit flat on the floor.

Finally a shallow and sloped seat means for a lack of ability to slouch and a more natural spine to thigh angle.

The context which the seat is most suited would be in a more industrial setting in particular a factory production line for example, so PU moulding would form the seat and back .
